Sarah J Smith is a costume designer, stylist, and project manager with extensive experience in New York, Los Angeles, and theaters across the country. Her theater work spans small new works, opera, and Broadway musicals. She has also worked with Disney/ABC Television Studios, styled photo shoots for national print campaigns, and designed costumes for television.

Currently, Sarah is an Associate Professor of Theatre at the University of Evansville, where she teaches courses in costume design, the history of clothing, makeup for actors and designers, drawing and painting, and collaboration. She holds both a BFA and a Master's in Drama/Design from Carnegie Mellon University and is a proud member of IATSE locals 829 (Design) and 764 (Wardrobe).

Born and raised in a multicultural family in South London, Sarah has also lived in Colorado, Texas, Pennsylvania, Oregon, California, and currently splits her time between the mid-West and New York. 

Sarah loves art, history, research, and collaboration, and exploring new places and values how theater uniquely bring all these elements together into a single project.
